Welcome to Woodberry Co.
Woodberry Co. makes healthy living and luxury synonymous. Our mission is to create products that are of the highest quality while also being ethical, eco-friendly, and health-conscious.
Back in 2015, we began making soap as a hobby using a single wooden box mold and a beginner’s “how-to” book. Our soap looked and felt so good that we started giving bars as gifts, which were such a hit that our friends and family quickly became our first customers. We combined our names -Ryan Wood and Bary Klevene- into “Woodberry,” and set up shop in our home.
We saw the difference good soap could make in our daily routines, so our vision was to make incredible and unique soap: hand-crafted, small-batch, using pure, vegan ingredients and all-natural scents and colors.
But we haven’t stopped at just making an exceptional product. We are also committed to ethical, sustainable, and environmentally responsible practices that we are truly proud of... We think you’ll feel as good about using our soaps as we feel about producing them.
Plant-based
We use only plant-derived ingredients in our products. You don’t need to be vegan to love our soap, but if you are, then this is the soap for you.
Cruelty-free
We don’t test our products on animals (though our dog is quite fond of the scents).
Handcrafted
Every one of our products is made by hand in small batches by our Soapmaster General (that’s Ryan, in case you were wondering).
Sustainably sourced
We source our palm oil from members of the Roundtable for Sustainable Palm Oil (rspo.org), which has strict standards that protect forests, wildlife, and indigenous people while minimizing pollution and providing fair working conditions and wages to farmers. Every ounce of oil is traceable to the farm where it was grown. Woodberry is dedicated to palm oil as a high-quality ingredient and to ensuring every drop is sustainably and ethically produced.
Free of sulfate, phthalate, paraben, and detergent
What is this stuff anyway? These harmful chemicals have no place in good soap, which is why you won’t find them at Woodberry.
Scented with pure essential oils
We only use essential oils to scent our products. These are steam-distilled pure plant extracts, meaning that they come from the ground and not from a test tube. The plants are minimally processed to release their pure essence, and retain the natural smell and flavor of their source. We never use fragrance oils, which are highly processed products that can contain synthetic chemicals that can irritate the skin and pose certain health risks.
Colored by nature
Our soaps are colored with a variety of clays, activated charcoal, plant pigments, and natural minerals. Some of our essential oils can also affect the color of the soap.
...But wait, what’s that sparkle?
That sparkle you see on top of some of our bars is synthetic mica (fluorphlogopite). Mica provides shimmer but the mineral is hard to trace and may be mined with child labor, raising ethical concerns in the industry. We are committed to making products ethically and so we use fluorphlogopite, a lab-produced mimic of mica, ensuring high ethical standards through our supply chain. We join other industry leaders like LUSH in utilizing fluorphlogopite which also ensures our soap is free of heavy-metal contaminants that can be found in mined mica.
Recyclable
More than one billion plastic body-wash bottles enter the waste system each year. With our biodegradable and plastic-free packaging and bar soaps, we are glad to help you reduce your dependence on single-use plastics.
LGBTQ+
Woodberry was founded and is owned and operated by members of the LGBTQ+ community. We are committed to working for equality in the world, one squeaky-clean shower at a time.
